Loudass Punk Rock at 8am

The Sex Pistols

I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I found myself as a disc jockey at radio stations that played this defiant, D.I.Y. kind of music. I ‘fell’ into this career because I sold advertising at a small radio station (a great place to get a start) and they thought I had a good voice. Talk about going in through the ‘back door.’  Like writing, this is a field full of rejection and plenty of hungry kids willing to do the same job for free. My boss got hundreds of tapes and resumees a week from wannabees. So I established myself as a music critic and learned the computer programming to be a music director. I figured I’d ‘age out’ later. I ended up aged out at 40 and on a blacklist.

I’m listening to it, and The Pixies right now. Try doing that when you’re in a tentative mood state. I think it plays real well.

Right now I’m in author neurosis. Is my title too gross? Should I call the ‘such and such for dummies’ person? How humiliating!

Last night I perused the entire “Writer’s Market” for small, academic presses. Under the categories ‘Health and Medicine,’ nowhere did I see a real opening for “Tardive Dyskinesia.” But what if it becomes a ‘thang’ (our population rose by 600k in the last six months) and I didn’t bother to write my book? Bottom line? Do what you enjoy.

But what if you enjoy torturing yourself?

Words….Inc…Trying to get in Miami Herald these days….

The most new words I come across are in the New York Times Book Review. Last night I stayed up until 2am catching up with past issues. Trying to get published in Miami Herald, a tough nut to crack. I’m on my fourth submission. Waiting, reading, evaluating what gets published in place of my stuff. It’s humbling, isn’t it?

Paucity: The presence of something in insufficient amounts, small, not enough.

Meritocratic: Power or political office based on ability, credentials, education. (….NOT!)

Impunity: Exempt from punishment (in AA’s “Big Book” they mention those who drink with impunity)

Madrasas: College with instruction in all things Muslim. Maybe they send young women there. Gotta check on that

Has anyone heard of that other Kurt Cobain Documentary

Kurt

Is there a documentary besides “Montage of Heck?”

At my pain doctor’s place there is this really nice lady who does my blood pressure. She’s really young so I was surprised to hear she liked Nirvana. She Said there is an alternate documentary that theorized that Courtney Love, who is still alive and well, killed her husband, not that he committed suicide. Has anyone ever heard of it?

I’m gonna go looking

Kurt, RIP You Meant So Much To Me

Heck Montage was released this week. We can see it on HBO Monday Night. Can’t wait.  The director has a good track record documenting enigmatic icons with conflicting swirling stories about them. It’s a documentary during Which Courtney Love and her daughter went to court over rights, etc.  Filming had to be shut down here and there for periods of a year or more.

But the documentary apparently features great images and clips of the band playing live. I’ve heard that he had chronic stomach pain and some sort of depression. Hard to tell,  though with all the drugs in his system. HeWANTED to do it. Somepeople try to commit suicide as a cry for help. He didn’t.  I’ve done some research since posting this on Twitter and am going to do a blog on what I know after watching the documentary.

Kurt Cobain RIP, truly. You meant so much to me.
