Using more Music, writing about Music, for balance in my life.

For my life to be balanced, I’m working with a global literary and arts mag, called “The Missing Slate” writing reviews of musicians. I’m hoping my Afghan Whigs story gets picked up. Does anyone know who the Afghan Whigs are?

They wrote alot of stuff about the raw emotions of early sobriety and how tough it was to put your heart in someone else’s hands; only for it to be squished or stepped on. This happened to me, this 13th step business quite a bit. Even when we waited that mandatory year…”No relationships for the first year” sort of the same wisdom that spouts “Keep it Stupid Simple” and other hard core, black and white, derogatory statements.

And then they wonder why they’re losing the opiate war.

With our tired tactics and lousy combat strategies, it’s no wonder the body count keeps going up  even when opiate prescriptions are down.  “The Program” isn’t right for everyone, but it’s considered the ‘Gold Standard.’ And they never mention people who are in pain, like the late Prince. What are we going to tell them? That they have to live a life of agony so they can be ‘sober?”

I see alot of talking heads who know very little about how the crisis could be headed off at the pass. Discontinue the use of all immediate release drugs like Vicodin and Percocet. They’re far from beneign. They deliver the fatal dose by setting up ‘Set and Setting.’ Once someone puts it together that one of these pills for pain is good, they’ll swallow 3 and then a handful.

This doesn’t happen with extended release drugs unless the user/abuser monkeys with the time release mechanism in order to get an instant rush.

Indie Pharmacies an Endangered Species…The only kind who understands and cares

horse

I am on a tear to save independent pharmacies being driven out of business. If you read my stuff, you know I have bipolar/tardive/borderline diabetic side effects. When I got tardive my publix of fifteen years bumped me off. My complications were too much for them. I found an indie which is why I wrote this story.

Conflict of interest/collusion between pharmacy benefit managers and the drugstores they own and government laws that benefit….well you get the picture.

One click is all I need to support this movement.

On the road with 3 sizes of Clothes

gainesvilletwo You would never know this by my tags  but packing for this trip to see my father on his farm was murder. First of all, my weight varies a great deal, largely due to my psych meds, namely clozaril. Other atypicals, like Seroquel and Zyprexa, among others, do this too. Thus, I have three sizes of clothes in my closet, and I had to FACE THE MONSTER when packing, and try them on, all while, trying not to get triggered when stuff didn’t fit. I made lists but I still spaced out and forgot to pack warm weather clothes for a heat wave in Kentucky. So we hat to hit a clothing store for some short sleeved shirts after the airport. Still, nothing  I wear is ever good enough for my father, and I’m never thin enough. This is sort of why, in addition to bipolar, I have an eating disorder too. More from the farm later.

HBO’s Ballers Delights Football Skeptic (Andy Garcia in season 2)

Brought to you by the same people who brought “Friday Night Lights” is HBO’s comedy “Ballers,” starring “Rock” ….it’s about Football, Football players but about so much more. Mental health, opiate addiction, neurological and other health problems, other kinds of substance abuse, Fake Friends, Sex, well, of course…season one is available for binge watching now and season two features Andy Garcia as a money manager. The Rock plays one too and he’s poaching Andy’s clients, watch the sparks fly. It’s a way more intellectual ride than I imagined and funny as hell. I like watching because I know next to nothing about professional football except to say John Elway was in my dorm at Stanford U.
