Recovery Beyond AA just want people to know there are options based on real science

sobertruthunbroken brain

Ironically, lately, I have been having to ‘work a program’ on a work situation. Acceptance, doing it their way. Removing my ego and proactive nature and allowing them to tell me what THEY want. Working on my ‘attitude of gratitude’ that I have a home to learn and grow in my writing.

Then, this post kinda knocking the program comes out. What am I supposed to do….ignore it? What do you think? Am I obnoxious or what?

Words…why they turn me on?

AlLiliPulPink

This is what Sunny South Florida will do to you if you go walking, etc.

Vertiginous: Steep, high, causing someone to become dizzy.

Parapet: A low protective wall.

Riverine: Of a river or a riverbank. What context, I wonder?

Pileated: Having a cap like a mushroom. Maybe a hat is what they are speaking of.

Purloined: Steal, thievery

Heres start of A Medicare Report of Abuse .. Stigma, both racial, socioeconomic and bipolar

ali

Hey you guys…I just wrote this up. A formal complaint of long term abuse I endured by Quest laboratories over a seven year period because I was ashamed, cowed and didn’t think I deserved better. They almost succeeded in denying me my critical lab services to get my most important mood stabilizer. They are NOT going to get away with it. I may be one of the ‘little’ people but I’m “mad as hell and not going to take Stigma any more.”

Local Lab Chain’s Long Term Abuse, shame shame shame on YOU@!

Re: Systemic and local problem in my seven years as a monthly client of Quest Labs, 3343 Sheridan Street Location, Hollywood, Florida. 33021-3606. (the last four digits of zip were hard to read).

This long letter, I’m sorry but there’s a lot to cover, chronicles a litany of abusive treatment, jeapordy of my health, healthcare and access to a most critical medication by one of your providers.

It’s a case of stigma, and if you get to page 8 you’ll see the ‘diversity in reverse’ racial discriminatory aspect as well. I don’t come out and say who’s what color but I do remember distinctly a conversation I had with the supervisor whose name is Augusta.  You’ll be able to see this sad scenario in full blown Technicolor. But there are other types of stigma, abuse, and discrimination as well. A systemic aspect infecting all aspects of the corporation. It can’t continue. You must be informed of this so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

(I will be sending this to better business bureau, chamber of commerce and any other regulatory agencies I can find too. ‘

Do you want to hear the rest of it?  Let me know.

Fashion, not Hollywood are the only ones casting Asians

laperlasianLa Perla Ad

(Thank Gooodness, fashion is leading the way…representing Asian Beauty Big time)

As if there wasn’t already enough discrimination and racism in the world, whether you have depression, a bad job, bipolar, dwarfism, adhd,  a chronic physical illness now we have to put up with this????

When was the last time you saw a Hollywood movie with an Asian in the lead? Why Not?

The producers pitching the idea to the studios for production and distribution and ad money claim that because there are no Asian “A-listers” (A la Julia Roberts or George Clooney) that they can’t get dough if they go with lesser known actors. So they do see one color. Green.

It is sooo blatantly wrong to do things like cast Emma Stone as an Asian-American in ‘Aloha” with Bradley Cooper….even  Mickey Rooney played an Asian  lead Character. And these producers are just plain WRONG. Or scared. Or prejudiced. The most ethnically diverse franchise, “Fast and Furious” did hundreds of millions at the Box Office, for example.

FASHION on the other hand is in the midst of what they call “The Great Disruption.” See above. My sister works at high end lingerie designer “La Perla.” In the last 8 mo, 30% of her casting choices have been ladies of Asian descent. And boy do they sell some intimate wear!!!!  (Chanel, Gucci, Burberry, etc are right behind her).

She just got another job that will take her to LA with her three children and husband. But she has blazed a new trail for La Perla in a sagging luxury market post 2008. Go Sis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Letter to the Editor re RX prices Boston Globe

Photo of a photo

I was beginning to think my favorite subject had disappeared into the campaign trail because it’s too complicated for The Donald. He can’t build a wall or mete out justice to the drug companies but he can agree with the rest of the bunch (for once…take that as his silence) and that’s why we aren’t hearing about it. Until last night when I read Boston Globe and saw…an article by the Dean of Harvard Med School’s really vague, non specific op ed. I only went to Stanford, so they won’t give me the column inches for an article but maybe my letter to the editor? I didn’t mention the bipolar bit.

Bipolar Listomania Shocker

Who Would You like jammed down your throat? A superficial “list” article, Donald Trump (who drove the media towards tabloidy coverage), or Miss Allison Strong. Hmmm. None of the above. Just as we thought.

womens worlddonaldallicat

This has tough for her because she thinks if people who have bipolar disorder want to be taken seriously, then a neatly arranged body of factoids with nothing to back them up, is horrendous. She has lost one publisher (that she even knows) for expressing her disturbance at the amount of mental health content being dealt with too lightly with “National Enquirer” type lists. Here is the link to the gutsy pulication, bphope.com, who allowed Allison to stick her neck out (she does that regularly) and prove why these lists aren’t always appropriate or productive. Here’s the link: I hope you become part of the electoral process. http://www.bphope.com/blog/bipolar-strong-list-o-mania-shocker.

Let us know if you think we, too should can her ass by commenting, ‘unliking’ etc in the comments section below

Minicycles within Bipolar Cycling

allicat

I’ve been a rapid cycler for a long long time. I’m on a combination of stuff that’s perfectly calibrated. Havn’t been depressed since July. As you might expect, I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak. The day before yesterday I went to the gym and I couldn’t concentrate on the Newspaper, had to push really hard to get through routine and never got the ‘runner’s high’

I’m in small cycles. But it scared me. I started looking at the calendar and evaluating my current state of mind and thought, ‘live each day appreciative of it.’

A New Emoji for Durex Condoms

Emojis are like the new domain ownership craze. They are now being used for brand development. This means commercial products, the Durex Condoms, are getting clever little emojis for their commercials and social media promotion. I can’t believe no one thought of this long ago…it’s an automatic.

Technology is changing our world so rapidly that Ad Agencies are having a hard time keeping up with ‘What Is’ so they can contrast that, remain competitive and think past it, called “out of the box.” I mean, if you don’t know what the ‘box’ is, how can you think out of it, right?
